Propulsion test engineer
Join Alpha Impulsion in Toulouse as a Propulsion Test Engineer, leading test campaigns accross several prototypes to scale autophage propulsion all the way to orbit.
Overview
By joining Alpha Impulsion as a Propulsion Test Engineer in the Toulouse office, you will play a key role in the development of AMBER, Alpha Impulsion's small scale autophage demonstrator for suborbital flight and in-space propulsion, and GARNET, Alpha Impulsion's launch vehicle, promising payload capacity twice that of current technologies, at a fraction of the cost.
Reporting to AMBER's Lead Engineer, you will participate in the integration, validation and testing of complete rocket engine prototypes. You will contribute to the scale-up for orbital launch, by leading the testing of increasingly complex subsystems. You embark on a young project, with the opportunity to build it from start to qualification and exploitation.
Your key responsibilities
As part of your missions, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:
In collaboration with the Chief Scientific Officer, contribute to the selection of testing objectives and elaborate the testing strategy accross multiple prototypes.
Lead the the definition of rocket engine testing activities, including testing equipment (mechanical, electrical, acquisition, etc.) as well as the Concept of Operations.
Participate in the design of engine subsystems to ensure the implementation of testing interfaces.
In collaboration with the Lead System Engineer, lead the execution of test plans (acceptance, subsystem preliminary tests, firing tests).
Build supplier partnerships for acquisition, control, and GSE equipment.
What we would appreciate most
Required education, experience and skills
Master’s degree in aerospace or equivalent.
At least three years of experience in testing rocket engine of at least 10kN. Any experience with cryogenics would be viewed positively, as would any experience with engine testing in the 70kN+ class.
Applied knowledge of FGSE design and implementation for hybrid or liquid engine testing.
Experience in test definition, instrumentation, and correlation of analytical models with test results.
Working knowledge of rocket propulsion fundamentals, and their associated risks/non-nominal behaviour.
Demonstrated ability to manage technical activities autonomously and report results through clear, traceable engineering documentation.
Comfortable with a startup environment and Agile frameworks.
Professional English required. Proficency in French and/or Italian would be a plus.

Base salary negotiable based on experience.
