To propel this European ambition, Alpha Impulsion is developing a rupture in space propulsion.
WHAT WE DO
With autophage propulsion, propellants are the structure of the rocket. The rocket burns like a candle, consuming away the structure itself, and by the end of the mission, only the engine and the payload remain. This unique solution overcomes the rocket equation by slashing dry mass to nearly zero. The best part is no part: we prevent space debris, cut launching cost by 80% and propellant usage by 50%.
Our long-term goal is the development of our autophage launcher Grenat. And in 2025, we kicked-off Opal, our autophage system for in-space propulsion, designed for interplanetary missions and space tugs.
