Avionics intern
Join Alpha Impulsion in Toulouse as an Avionics Intern to design AMBER avionics, develop real-time software, and validate hardware in a hands-on startup.
By joining Alpha Impulsion as an avionics intern in the Toulouse office, you will participate in the development of AMBER, Alpha Impulsion's small scale autophage demonstrator for suborbital flight and in-space propulsion.
Reporting to the Embedded System engineer, you will participate in the design of the AMBER avionics, spanning from engine avionics, control & acquisition.
You will embark on a young project, with the opportunity to build it from start to qualification and exploitation.
Your first project here
Alpha Impulsion is developing a small-scale engine for its demonstrator AMBER. Its goal is to derisk at small scale technologies to be used in the future OPAL engine for in-space activities & GARNET engine for launch vehicles. The results of this demonstration might change the way mini launchers are built, demonstrating performance up to twice that of current propulsion technologies.
Your responsibilities
As part of your missions, you will be entrusted with the following responsibilities:
Contributing to the design of the propellant insertion system avionics, including the overall architecture (technologies, interfaces definition, communication protocol), engine power system, valves, control & acquisition system.
Contributing to the engine software development (actuators control, insertion system control, ground operations sequences, safety procedures)
Contributes to the integration of the avionics hardware into the engine, taking into account volume, thermal and EMC constraints.
Refining and implementing the system test plan (hardware-in-the-loop), as well as the hot-fire test plan.
Participating in the procurement and integration of test hardware.
Gaining hands-on experience by participating in avionics systems testing and validation, from small components to integrated engine tests sequence.
What we would appreciate most
Required education, experience and skills
You are in the final year of a Master’s degree or engineering school, with a strong academic background and knowledge in the fields of embedded systems, control & acquisition systems, and you are eager to apply your skills to real-world engineering challenges.
You have hands-on experience in real-time software development or in the integration of data acquisition systems.
Experience in C development toolchain for embedded systems (time-sensitive or safety-critical), including GIT.
Creative, curious, and autonomous, you take pride in seeing the tangible results of your work.
Comfortable with a startup environment and Agile frameworks.
Professional English required.
Would be a plus
Knowledge of the specificities of power electronics (high voltage and high current) and electromagnetic compatibility.
Italian and/or French speaking.
Compensation & advantages
700€/month base salary, 75% public transport reimbursement (versus the usual 50%), sustainable mobility package “Forfait Mobilité Durable”.
If you thrive on challenge, take on a new one and join the crew.
